A person has been charged after pedestrians struck on Queen Street

A 17-year-old male has been charged following a serious incident on Queen Street in Auckland early this morning, where three pedestrians were struck by a vehicle.

Police were called to the scene between City Road and Karangahape Road around 6am after receiving reports of a car hitting multiple people. One person was seriously injured, while two others sustained minor injuries.

The driver fled the scene on foot. Two individuals were located nearby shortly afterward and taken into custody. One of them has now been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and injuring with intent.

The teenager is due to appear in Auckland Youth Court on 4 August.
