Two men have been arrested and charged with burglary following a break-in at a landscaping business in Botany on Wednesday night.
Police were called to the Botany Road property just before 11.30pm after reports that two offenders had allegedly entered the yard and were attempting to steal diesel.
“Multiple Police units responded quickly, supported by a dog handler,” said Counties Manukau East Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Rakana Cook.
One of the suspects, a 44-year-old man, was taken into custody near the scene. The second man, aged 37, was tracked down by the Police dog and found hiding under a digger.
Both men have been charged with burglary and are scheduled to appear in the Manukau District Court today.
“It’s a great result,” said Inspector Cook. “From a report being made as the offending was taking place through to night shift staff getting on scene quickly and interrupting the offenders.”
