Auckland Transport (AT) is investigating after a diesel-powered bus caught fire outside its Birkenhead depot on Friday morning.
AT said staff noticed smoke coming from the engine at about 8.48am. Fire and Emergency crews responded and extinguished the blaze shortly after 9am.
There were no passengers on board at the time and no injuries were reported.
Footage posted to social media shows flames at the rear of the bus and thick plumes of smoke rising from the vehicle. AT said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
