A homicide investigation is underway after a man died from critical injuries sustained at a property in Ōtāhuhu on Saturday night.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Beatty Street around 8.30pm following reports of a person seriously injured.
Upon arrival, Police found a man in a critical condition. He was rushed to hospital but sadly died overnight.
Detective Inspector Karen Bright of Counties Manukau CIB confirmed Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading to the incident.
“A scene examination is ongoing, and our teams are working to establish exactly what took place,” she said.
Police are currently working to locate a person of interest in connection with the case.
“At this stage, those involved are believed to be known to each other, and we do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the wider public,” said Detective Inspector Bright.
An increased Police presence can be expected in the area as the investigation continues. Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who has relevant information to come forward.
