Auckland Police have renewed their appeal for information as the investigation into the brutal killing of 33-year-old American national Kyle Whorrall continues, with detectives working to identify all those involved.
Whorrall was fatally attacked at a bus stop in the suburb of St Johns on the night of Saturday, 19 April 2025, during Easter Weekend. The violent incident, described as a senseless and tragic act, sparked Operation Aberfeldy, a major police investigation led by Auckland City CIB.
The case shocked the local community and drew significant attention due to the brazen nature of the attack and the fact that it occurred in a public place during a busy holiday weekend.
Since the incident, two people have been charged in connection with Whorrall’s death. A 16-year-old male remains before the Auckland High Court, charged with murder, while a 33-year-old woman is before the Auckland District Court, facing two charges of being an accessory after the fact.
However, Police believe others were in the vehicle involved in the fatal attack and have not yet come forward, and Investigators remain committed to ensuring everyone involved is held accountable.
“It’s time to do the right thing,” said Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin. “We know there were other individuals present that night, and we’re asking anyone who knows who they are to come forward now.”
He emphasised that Operation Aberfeldy remains active, and investigators are continuing to piece together the full picture of what occurred.
“There are people in the community who know exactly what happened. No piece of information is too small, and we need those individuals to step up and speak out.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Police in confidence by visiting their local station, calling 105, or providing information online using reference number 250419/9858.
