Counties Manukau Police have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a man in Ōtara late Thursday night.
Detective Senior Sergeant Simon Taylor said police were called to Wymondley Road shortly before midnight after receiving reports of a group of people fighting in the street.
“Upon arrival, two men were located with critical injuries,” said Taylor. “They were transported to hospital, however sadly, one man died a short time later.”
The second man remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Police are now working to establish the full circumstances of the incident and are seeking to identify and locate those involved.
A scene examination will continue today, and cordons remain in place in the area.
